Introduction
Shanti
Griha means a house at peace with itself and the world around it.
People ask why we choose this name at a time of conflict and insurgency;
at a time our country, Nepal,is being ripped apart by voilence and
insurgency.
2005
was a time of great pain, small hope, and spreading upheaval in
this Himalayan kingdom. As we worked with small develpment projects,
we saw our personel held by the insurgents and our activities restricted
by government security personnel.
Yet,
hoping to turn this nation into a house of peace, into Shanti Griha,
we continued our work. We went into hotspots, we talked with both
parties in conflict, we talked to members of the civil society,
and were able to make small inroads through development projects
that help improve the livelihoods of human beings.
For
us, Shanti Griha has become a vision, we work to help human beings,
we work to bring change in the lives of those who need help and
are willing to help themselves, we work to make Nepal a house in
peace: in peace with itself and the world around it. |
